PORTAL OF TOURISM OF THE CHIRIQUI HIGHLANDS
Chiriqui - Panama - Central America |
|
Cerro Punta is a small and beautiful village located in the highlands of the Chiriquí Province, the newest tourism destination of Panama, with amazing landscapes, aboundance of natural resources and cool climate. At almost 2000 meters above sea level, in a pot-shaped valley surrounded by densely forested mountains, Cerro Punta is the highest village of the country, often bathed in clouds. Around the eighties, agriculture has expanded so quickly in this region that now, near 80 percent of the vegetals consumed in Panama, are growing here. This agricultural explosion has happened at the expense of the surrounding woods, but the population premises are beginning to understand the consequences of deforestation and try to preserve the abundant resources remaining natural, with a view to tourism development as an alternative to the future of the region. Speaking of tourism, in Cerro Punta you can find tourist services like hotels, guesthouses, cottages, restaurants, bars, guides and tour operators and, if you want to stay for some time, beautiful properties for rent or sale.
